Canterbury Opera has earned strong support from patrons and sponsors this year. The James Hay Theatre in Christchurch has been packed out for both opera seasons The Tales of Hoffmann in July and Turandot in October. With the company financial health described as "improving" the artistic ambition has also been heightened with the influence of new (Australia based) Artistic Director, Brian Castles-Onion.
Artists.co.nz is a vehicle to share a portion of the resources available to artists through FUSE Art Business Initiative Ltd. The FUSE course and short talks have been offered internationally with amazing results.
Whatever your art form, your style and your personal preferences, FUSE will open your eyes to a wealth of resources within reach.
An artist attending commented that the consultation "allowed a mutual exchange of information and set a tone of friendly professionalism."
On completion of the seminars many express, what one described, that they "feel confident to develop an art business without compromising artistic integrity."

Creative expression will be explored from a variety of perspectives in this exciting and diverse course offering. Four Tutors have designed the course together bringing their experience from a various art forms to expand creative expression of participants from the inside out. Lucette Hindin will facilitate physical expression, Jacky Morren will assist intuitive sculpting techniques, while Katz Cowley introduces music, and the written word as inspiration for drawing. Kate Spencer will discuss mental processes and bringing creativityinto decision making.
The Artists in Schools – National Secondary Schools Arts Coordinator Branwen Lorigan – is seeking interest in being artists who are interested in being registered to work with students in secondary schools throughout New Zealand. We need artists nationally, especially in the South Island.

school can access to contact actors for their films.

Margaret Dawson - historical portrait photography with a twist
Rebecca Harris is a ceramic sculptor. Her recent exhibition was a sell out at CoCA where she was selected to be one of their series of emerging artists for 2005.
'Putting on a Face Requires Time' a body of her latest work will be on exhibit at the Milford Galleries in Dunedin 6-25 August.
