Opera Providence provides performance opportunities for exceptional local and emerging talent.
History
Opera Providence engages and inspires audiences through opera as the ultimate arts fusion. Over the past nine years, we have enjoyed rave reviews for our performances from both critics and audiences. This year marks the fourth year of OP's free outdoor concert series, Opera on the Hill, on Sundays in July, where we receive an overflowing and highly enthusiastic audience of more than 4,000 people.
OPERAtunity
Education and Outreach
A vital part of the mission and vision of Opera Providence, OPERAtunity is dedicated to educating people of all ages about opera and making the art form accessible to all audiences. Through education and outreach programs, Opera Providence raises awareness of and exposure to opera, educating, inspiring, and cultivating the next generation of opera supporters.
OPERAtunity brings learning programs to the community and arts integration programs to a diverse school-based population, including Rhode Island's core urban districts as well as students in suburban and rural settings. OPERAtunity provides main-stage, in-school and community performances, artist-in-residence, after school and enrichment programs, and cross-collaborations with other nonprofit organizations. The National Endowment for the Arts has awarded funding to support OPERAtunity artist-in-residence programs for the 2004-05 school year. OPERAtunity programs are also on the education roster for the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.
