What the opera meant to Paris.” Will be given on May 29, 7:30 pm at the Princeton Public Library by Marianne Grey. Mrs. Grey will describe Parisian night life from the Opera to the Moulin Rouge. The talk will be illustrated by the artists of the time. Mrs. Grey is a docent at the Princeton University Art Museum and has been the curator for shows at the Squibb Gallery in Trenton.

The mission of The Princeton Festival is to enrich the cultural life of the greater community by offering high quality professional entertainment in the performing arts. Each summer we will attract a diverse audience by presenting both traditional and lesser-known works of opera, chamber music, dance, jazz, musical theater, orchestral music and oratorio. The Princeton Festival will feature professional Artists, Designers, Directors, Conductors, and will provide educational opportunities for aspiring artists through its Young Stars Showcase. We hope to inspire and develop audiences through Community Outreach programs for the younger generation.
Richard Tang Yuk, Artistic Director and a founder of The Princeton Festival, was Chorus Master, Associate Conductor and later Assistant Artistic Director at the Opera Festival of New Jersey, where he worked on over 29 productions of opera. Dr. Tang Yuk is a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (UK) and holds degrees in Conducting from The Mannes College of Music, and the Indiana University, School of Music.
As an Associate Instructor at the IU Opera Theatre he was responsible for musical preparation for several operas there, including The Devils of Loudon, The Bartered Bride, Falstaff, The Love for Three Oranges, Rigoletto and Orfeo. He was Conductor of the National Youth Orchestra of Trinidad for several years and resident Conductor for Trinidad Opera Company before coming to the United States. He has conducted Messiah for the National Choral Council at Lincoln Center.
He is currently on the music faculty at Princeton University where he is Director of Choral Music, and Associate Director of the Program in Musical Performance. He teaches classes in Conducting, Vocal Performance and conducts the Princeton Opera Theater productions.
He has appeared with several orchestras including The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, The Richardson Chamber Players, the Brno Philharmonic in the Czech Republic, The Princeton Festival Orchestra and the Princeton University Orchestra. His performances of the major choral-orchestral literature have received critical acclaim.
